Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Willie Maud Clemons, 99, of Youngstown, who entered eternal rest on Friday, December 30, 2016.                                  

Mrs Willie Maud Clemons was born May 19, 1917 in Dublin, Ga., a daughter of Alberta McClendon and came to the Youngstown area in 1944 to raise her family.  She was an active member of Metropolitan Baptist Church and served on it’s Mother Board, Usher Ministry, Nurses Ministry, Mission Society, Deaconess Board, and Bible Class. She was also a part of the N.A.A.C.P., Local 627 Senior Club, AARP, and the McGuffey Center. Mrs. Clemons was employed as a nurses aide in the physical therapy department of Western Reserve Care System in the South Side Hospital for 32 years, retiring in 1979. Her husband, Lester, passed away in 1982.

She is survived by three daughters, Grace Clemons and Florine Waller of Youngstown and Doris Drumgole of Calif.; one son, Willie James Clemons of Campbell; 8 grandchildren, Lance Clemons of Pittsburgh, Larry Clemons of Columbus, Michelle Clemons of Fla., Jeanette Waller of Youngstown, Sabrina Hennen of Pa., Lamont Clemons and Christopher Clemons, both of Youngstown, Dorene Craig of Calif., Annette Woolen of Youngstown and Tangula Drumgole of Calif. In addition, Willie Maud is blessed with 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren that survive her.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her son, Lester Clemons Jr.; a daughter, Alberta Woolen; a granddaughter, Darlene Harville; and two great-grandchildren, Maiyanna McCarty and Wilson Clemons.
