Mrs. Johnson, affectionately known as “Granny” and “Big Ma”,  was born August 14, 1929 in Glendora, MS, a daughter of the late Emerson Cooper and Willie Lee Washington.  She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Christian Bible Baptist Church.  She was a former member of Ekolela Chapter #60 O.E.S.  Pinkie had been employed by the Board of Elections and for various group homes.  She was known for the awesome meals she prepared for anyone who graced her door.   She was an avid bingo player, and loved to cook,  and specialized in baking, especially rolls and German Chocolate cakes.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter,  Katherine (Truman) Greene, who took exceptionally excellent care of her; her son,  Bobby (Barbara) Johnson both of Youngstown; two brothers,  A.D. Jones of Glendora, MS and James (Liz) Cummings Jr. of Buffalo, NY; grandchildren,  Truman (Carol) Greene of Texas, Dena (Danny) Jacobs, Bobby Johnson, Jr., Brookes and Brandon Dotson all of Youngstown, 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter;  and a host of nieces, nephews other family and friends.

Besides her parents, Pinkie was preceded in death by her husband,    Nemah Johnson, whom she married December 27, 1945 and who passed away August 23, 2000;  three sisters, Johnnie Sue Richardson, Ella Mae Lee and Lucy Lewis; two brothers,  Jimmy Davis and Johnnie Cummings.

Friends may call Thursday afternoon at the L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home, and on Friday from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church.  Interment will be at Belmont Park Cemetery.
