Howard Garrett
July 9, 1939 ~ September 30, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years OldMemorial services for Mr. Howard B. Garrett, 78, will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Avenue, Youngstown.
Mr. Garrett was born July 9, 1939 in Talladega, Alabama, a son of Zack and Bessie Lee Terrell Garrett. He was a 1958 graduate of East High School and had been employed with Commercial Inertech, retiring after over 30 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and its Male Chorus, where he was also a bass guitar player. He was a self taught musiciam and enjoyed teaching others to play. He was musically talented and also played the keyboard; and in his younger years, he played and sang with several bands. Howard was an avid fisherman; enjoyed art, playing dominoes; and watching the Cleveland Browns. His passion was being with family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memories, his daughter, Catasha L. Garrett; his sister, Christine Edmondson; and grandson, Vernest Hildreth all of Youngstown; four generations of nieces and nephews; and a host of other family, church family and friends.
Besides his father, Zack; mother and stepfather, Bessie and Thomas Woods; he was preceded in death by four brothers, Renard, Willie K., John E., and Joe L; and seven sisters, Annie, Edna, Mildred, Flora, Bessie, Salonia and Karann.
