Services will be 12:00 noon on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Connie E. Parker, 84, of Youngstown, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 23, 2016
Mrs. Parker was born February 10, 1931 in Youngstown, a daughter of James and Clara B. Kyle Royal. She had worked as a caseworker with Mahoning County Jobs & Family Services for 17 years, retiring in 1987. A devoted and loving homemaker, Connie was a member of the NAACP, Urban League, and YWCA and was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed traveling, social card games, gardening, reading cookbooks and most of all having Christmas Dinner and spending time with her loving family.
She leaves to mourn her passing, but rejoice in her peace, five children, Donald J. Snowden, Sr. and his wife Marlene, and Constance R. Averhart both of Youngstown, Gilbert Q. Parker and his wife Omega of Columbus, Drucilla M. Parker of Atlanta, GA and Richard C. Breckenridge of Cleveland; a sister, Bertha Roundtree of California; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Berry of Youngstown; 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W., whom she married May 17, 1954 and who passed away July 2, 1999.
Friends may call Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
