Services will be 11:00 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman Street, Yo., for Mrs. Janie Mae Brown, 94, of Youngstown, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center.

 Mrs. Brown was born October 22, 1922 in Abbeville, South Carolina, a daughter of Hiram and Ada Gray Davis.  She was a lifelong member of New Bethel Baptist Church, its Deaconess, Choir, Mission and Sunday School Ministries.  She contributed to various organizations.  A devoted and loving homemaker, Janie enjoyed sewing, crafts, baking and gardening.  

 She leaves to forever cherish her legacy, her sister, Daisy Carswell; a host of nieces and nephews, including, Janice Strozier and Jeanette Hinton, Clarence (Wanda) Mitchell and Charles (Terry) Winphrie all of Youngstown; and a host of other family, church family and friends.

 Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsay, whom she married August 15, 1959 and who passed away 9/27/1987; and two sisters, Rosie Davis and Annie Pearl Grier.

 Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
