Valarie J. Phifer Martin

Valarie J. Phifer Martin, 70 of Youngstown, OH went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Valarie was born April 25, 1954 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of Roy and Joyce Phifer. She graduated from East High School and moved to Chicago, IL where she worked for Cook County Hospital, and The Chicago Defender Newspaper. She returned to Youngstown and worked for Carrington South Nursing Home. She stopped working to become a homemaker and help raise her grandchildren. She was married to Billy Larry Martin who preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her precious and loving memory, (2) children; Martia J. Phifer and Jarrell D. Phifer, (4) stepchildren; William Backus, Ki’Juan (Shanay) Backus, Monique Backus, Yolanda Gandy, and her father, Roy Phifer.

Her siblings; Roy D. Phifer Jr., David Phifer, and Marvin Phifer all of Youngstown, OH; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who loved her dearly.

Besides her mother and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marva Phifer, a brother, Darrell Phifer, an aunt, Anna Louise Raines, and a nephew, Marvin Boone.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 at Victory Christian Church, 3899, McCartney Rd., Youngstown, OH 44436 from 10:00-11:00 am, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am.
