Tyler Coren "Ty Ty" Howell-Keene

Tyler Coren Howel-Keene was born on June 11, 1990, to Thea D. Howell and Bradford D. L. Keene. Her earthly journey came to a earlyl sunset on December 31, 2025.

Tyler possessed a rare and radiant gift: the ability to find humor in the smallest details, bringing laughter and light to those around her. She was endlessly creative and boldly herself. A movie actress, a natural comedian, a gifted artist, and a passionate cook who expressed love through her creations.

Tyler was a 2008 graduate of East Mecklenburg High School. Never one to shy away from breaking barriers, she fearlessly tried out for cheerleading and became the only African American cheerleader at Hubbard High School in years; an achievement that reflected her courage, confidence, and refusal to be limited by expectations. A lifelong learner, Tyler was a junior at Youngstown State University, majoring in Business Management, pursuing her goals with determination.

Tyler, affectionately known as “Ty Ty,” worked many jobs throughout her life. Most recently, she was employed as a Fraud Specialist at Discover, where she was valued for her diligence and integrity.

Her faith was nurtured at Price Memorial AME Zion Church, where she attended Sunday School and joyfully sang as a member of the Buds of Promise choir. She regularly took part in church conference activities as well. Her spiritual foundation remained an important part of who she was throughout her life. Tyler was a fiercely loyal and faithful friend, deeply bonded to her cherished “sister/brother cousins,” relationships she held close to her heart.

She was joyfully looking forward to marriage in 2026 to her fiancé, Ulysses Preston, with whom she shared hope, commitment, and dreams for the future.

Above all else, Tyler was a loving and devoted mother to her children, Elijah Amir Holland and Seriya Renae Walker, who were the center of her world and the legacy of her love. Also left to remember her are her mother, Thea D. Howell, father Bradford D.L. Keene, brother Bradford Keene Jr., grandmother's Venicee C. Howell, and Nettie Keene-Bailey, aunt Jacqueline Keene, her great-uncles Richard Lee , Eugene Allen, and James Keene, and a close knit group of cousins and friends who meant so much to her.

Tyler was preceded in death by her beloved “Papa,” George Howell Jr., whose love remained with her always; her cherished cousin, Ashley Keene; and her uncle, La Forresta Keene.

Though her time with us was far too short, Tyler Coren Howell’s laughter, bravery, creativity, and love leave an imprint that will never fade. She will be remembered not only for what she accomplished, but for how she made people feel—seen, loved, and able to laugh even in life’s smallest moments. 

Visitation will be Monday, January 12, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at Price Memorial  A.M.E. Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave., Youngstown, OH  44505.  Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon.
