Tonjia Corpening - Bradley Obituary

Mrs. Tonjia Marie Corpening-Bradley, 50, of Youngstown was called from labor to reward on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Mrs. Corpening-Bradley was born December 31, 1973 in Youngstown, a daughter of Johnny Corpening and Mary Copeland.  She was a 1992 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and had attended Youngstown State University.  She had been employed as a teller/manager at Huntington Bank, and had worked at various banks in the area.  Tonjia was an entrepreneur of pastries.  She was owner/operator of Tonjia’s Heart L.L.C. and Confections From the Heart.  She was also founder of the Women’s Empowerment Annual Luncheon.  Tonjia’s love of cooking led her to hold an annual Teacher’s Appreciation Luncheon for the teachers at Martin Luther King Elementary School where her son attends.  Besides cooking and baking, Tonjia enjoyed watching Christmas movies, watching Reality Shows and Baking Tutorials, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

During her early years, Tonjia was a member of Faith Temple COGIC where she grew up. She was a member of the choir, taught the Sunshine Band children, and became an accomplished saxophone player. She was also a former member of Ebenezer COGIC and Bibleland COGIC.  At the time of her passing, she was a member of Restoration Christian Fellowship Church in Warren, Ohio.

She leaves to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life and legacy, her loving and devoted husband, Donald Sr., whom she married September 26, 2009; her son, Donald Jr., at home; siblings, Johnny Corpening and David L. (Priscilla) Shine of Riverdale, GA, Cynthia Corpening of Austintown and Dorina Shine of Youngstown; godchildren, Kierea Simms and Kameron Stringer; her godparents, Lock and Janice Beachum and Anner Hardin; godsister, Alisa Hardin-Laney; dear friends, Dawn Debbie Chappell, Shniqua Walker, Happy Monroe, Nia Hall and Erica Forney; and a host of loving family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; mother and stepfather, Mary E. and Eld. James Foster; and grandmother, Dorothy M. Duckett.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  at the Restoration Christian Fellowship Church, 760 Main Avenue SW, Warren, Ohio.  A celebration of her life will follow at 12:00 noon.
