Tanya Donell Crayon

Tanya Donell Crayon, 68 of Youngstown, departed this life on January 7, 2025.

Tanya Crayon was born on July 11, 1957, in Youngstown, Ohio, to her loving parents, Jacqueline Jarmon and Cleophus Jarmon. The eldest of eight children, Tanya was a vibrant and active individual throughout her life.

Tanya had a passion for sports, drag racing, and motorcycles, which grew stronger as she got older. She also had a creative side, writing poems and showing a deep interest in authoring books. Tanya attended North High School and later graduated from East High School.

She lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment and pursuing what she loved. Tanya became an evangelist and then an ordained minister under the late Bishop A. C. Callaham, where she served as a counselor at a sober living home, dedicating herself to helping others. She was actively involved in her community, working with nonprofit organizations such as Solid Front for Unity in America, and was well-known for her generosity and desire to uplift those around her.

Tanya loved to travel and was also a proud member of the Delectable Ladies, an organization that collaborated with Los Angeles’ Defiant One’s Motorcycle Club, where her husband, Donald Crayon, was a member.

Tanya leaves behind a legacy cherished by her mother, Jacqueline; her daughter, Jay Matt Elijah; and her siblings: Burrell Jarmon, Renee Jarmon, Cheryl Jarmon, Lisa May, Lydia Pettway (and her husband, John Pettway), Vanessa Jarmon, Steve Jarmon (and his wife, Ericka Jarmon), and a host of cousins and adopted children whom she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Crayon; her father, Cleophus Jarmon; her brother, Cleophus Jr and three grandchildren, along with one great-grandchild.

Tanya will always be remembered for her love, resilience, and dedication to her family, community, and faith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 am at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Rd., Youngstown, Ohio 44505, with funeral services to begin at 11:00 pm.
