Shun Videll Moreland, Sr.

            Mr. Shun Videll Moreland Sr., departed this life on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

            Mr. Moreland was born November 15, 1972 in Tallulah, Louisiana, a son of Thomas and Helen Madison Moreland.  He had been employed as a custodian with Carter-Wilks Cleaning Service.  Shun was of the Muslim faith.  A fun loving person, he enjoyed spending time with his children, nieces, nephews, and the Moreland, Madison and Kimmel Brook families. He loved R & B music, singing, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Youngstown Little Bears fan.

            He leaves to cherish his memory, eleven children, Ty’Juan D’Altorio, Antwon D. Dawson, A’Shawntay Heard, Shawntasia Moreland, DeVontae` Heard, Shun V. Moreland Jr., Brea K. Aziz and Treasure Moreland all of Youngstown, Rashonna McCoy of Columbus, Atralle Tensley of North Carolina and Kobe Moreland of Detroit, MI; 28 grandchildren; his siblings, Thomas J. (Tanya) Moreland, Blanchie (Melvin) West, Sharon Moreland, Charlotte Moreland, Annette Moreland, Angela Moreland, Mattie Moreland, Christine Moreland, Yolanda Merrick, Vertis Winters, Vernon Winters, Patrice Moreland and Kourtney Moreland; god brothers of 45 years, Tracy Wilks, Andy Irby, Michael Austin and Tomatra Ward; and a host of family and friends.

            Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, DeShun Moreland; and a sister, Michelle Moreland.

            Visitation will be Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
