Sallie Mae Bodrick-Ware entered her eternal rest Wednesday, July 23, 2025 in Charlotte, NC.
She was born March 25, 1954 in Long Star, South Carolina to Jerry and Ruth Myers-Bodrick. Sallie was educated in the Youngstown City School System, graduating from South High School in 1972. She married Robert “Bob” Ware and to that union, four children were born and from those children, she was blessed with 5 grandchildren who brought conversation, laughter and playing games to her life. “Sal” was a life-long member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church. She, along with her sister, Mary, were baptized in Jesus’ Name on February 13, 1966 and Sal received the Holy Ghost the same day.
Sallie competed in the Ohio District Council Bible Bowls. She sang in the Mt. Calvary Concert Choir, as a back-up singer with Dr. Frederick Stevens & the Stevens Singers, as well as Vicky Winans. She served as part of the Décor staff with Min. Jacquie Hays, the Culinary Dept., the Usher Board and as a Juice Governor. One of the most cherished positions was to serve as Adjutant for both Bishop Norman L. & Dr. Rita H. Wagner.
Sallie was employed by Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield for 40 years. The last 12 years, she was employed at Floral Vision as a floor manager and Event Coordinator. Sal leaves memories of a strong, determined and purpose-filled woman, mother, grandmother, auntie, friend and saint of God.
She leaves to celebrate her life: her children, Allison Ware of Columbus, OH, Robert Jr. (Danielle) Ware of Charlotte, NC; Ryan Ware of Youngstown, OH and Krystal Ware of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren – Garrick, Aniya, Charlie, Robert “RJ” and Kyere. One godson, Rick Baldwin. Her siblings: Rose Bodrick Logan, Dwayne (Kimberly) Bodrick, Jerry (Doreen) Bodrick, Daryl (Tamira) Bodrick, Trina (Arthur) Thompson and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jerry & Ruth Bodrick, a sister, Mary Bodrick Stevens, grandparents Josh & Ellen Meyers and Bea & Rosa Bodrick; and a nephew Patrick Logan.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, 1812 Oak Hill Avenue, Youngstown, OH. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop C. Shawn Tyson officiating.
