Ruthie Blue Obituary

            Ms. Ruthie Lee Blue, 75, of Youngstown, departed this life Friday, August 23, 2024 at her home with her family at her side.

            Ms. Blue was born November 7, 1948 in Drew, Mississippi, a daughter of John Henry and Cannie Neil Hall.  She had been employed with Towel Supply, the Holiday Inn and most recently was secretary at Gutkneckt Towers.  Ruthie was a faithful member of Fifth Avenue Community Church, its former head greeter, part of the Church Council, Intercessory Prayer Team and was a main encourager to many.  She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, soap operas, shopping, loved her church, but her passion was being with her family.

            She leaves to cherish her beloved memory, her significant other, Jerome Griffin; three sons, Larry Blue, Aquila Blue, and Tod Griffin all of Youngstown; 15 grandchildren, including Deyontae Blue whom she reared; 22 great grandchildren; her siblings, Lucy May Hall and Lee Hall both of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of family and friends.

            Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Henry and Freddie Blue; three sisters, Dorothy Hall, Betty Hall, and Henri “Tulip” Hall; and three brothers, J. W., Frank and Jessie Hall.

            Visitation will be Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral, 1951 McGuffey Road, Youngstown.  Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m.
