Mrs. Ruth E. Walker, 100, of Las Vegas, NV formerly of Youngstown, transitioned from this earthly labor to her heavenly reward on Monday, October 27, 2025 at her home in Las Vegas with her daughter at her side.
Mrs. Walker, was born October 22, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of David and Perthenia Johnson. She was educated in the Youngstown School System. Ruth had been employed with Packard Electric, retiring after over 20 years of service. She was a former member of Gospel Temple Baptist Church and its culinary ministry. Ruth enjoyed word search puzzles, bowling, being with her loving family and hosting family dinners and reunions.
She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, three children, Darryl (Marcia) Walker of North Carolina, Frederick (Charmaine) Walker of Boardman, and Karen Harvey of Las Vegas with whom she made her home; five grandchildren, Terence, Yelena, Fred Jr., Mina and Christopher; 11 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Walker Jr., whom she married December 1, 1947 and who passed away, July 24, 2021; a great great grandchild, Aniya J. D. Williams; and siblings, Homer Green, David, Eugene, Lawrence and Woodrow Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Bernice Wade, Lenetta Wragg and Lillian Ferguson.
Visitation will be Monday, November 10, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will follow at 12:00 noon.
