Rachel Lynne Jordan

           Ms. Rachel Lynne Jordan, 64, of Youngstown, transitioned to eternal rest on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

            Ms. Jordan was born April 16, 1961 in Youngstown, a daughter of William Sr. and Lois Williams York.  She was a 1979 graduate of South High School and received her AA degree in Court Reporting from Franklin University in Columbus, OH.  Rachel had worked as a bus aide with Columbus City Schools. 

            She was a former member of several churches:  World Fellowship Interdenominational Church and attended Sunday School, Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church in Youngstown where she sang in the choir; Triedstone Baptist Church in Columbus, where she sang in the choir and was a prayer warrior; and presently a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.  Rachel enjoyed singing, reading the Bible, praying for others, had a great sense of humor, cooking, and baking.  She was a true sports fan and was an avid fan of football, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes; she also enjoyed basketball (the L. A. Lakers) and was a fan of Steph Curry.

            She leaves to forever cherish her memory, her mother, Lois York of Youngstown; a daughter, Tasha Gratten Sylvester of Youngstown; two grandchildren; her brother, William (Patricia) Jordan Jr., and sister, Debra Jordan both of Youngstown; and a host of cousins, other family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her father, William Sr.; a brother, Maurice Jordan; and grandparents, Elliott and Beatrice Williams, and George and Burena Rhodes.

            Visitation will be Monday, December 29, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 p.m.
