Penny Lee Brown

            Mrs. Penny Lee Brown, 77, of Youngstown, transitioned from this life on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

            Mrs. Brown was born February 18, 1949 in Charleston, West Virginia, a daughter of Goode Hamilton and Josephine Jackson.  She was a 1966 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and attended West Virginia Junior College and Manpower.  Penny had worked over 40 years as office manager for Youngstown Hearing and Speech, retiring in 2016.  She was a member of the Quota Social Club, and enjoyed traveling (especially international travel), shopping and old movies.

            She leaves to forever cherish her memory her two sons, Alan Taylor and Russell Taylor both of Youngstown; Claudia Harris who was like a daughter to her; four grandchildren; Ryan, Shayla, Autumn and Jayden; stepchildren, Doris and Anderson Brown Jr; her godson, Sylvester “Pete” Thurston III; her best friend for over 57 years, Sherry Thurston; her traveling buddies, Ann and Jill; a niece, Charlotte Drewrey; sister-in-law, Mattie McGill; cousin, Billy Pleasant; and a host of other family and friends.

            Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Anderson C. Brown, whom she married January 17, 1987 and who passed away March 30, 2023; and her brother, Alvin Hamilton.

            Private services were held June 2, 2026 at the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
