Pearlie Mae "Jackie" Haywood Williams

           Mrs. Pearlie Mae Haywood Williams was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2025.

           Mrs. Williams, affectionately known as “Jackie”, was born November 9, 1943 in Mobile, Alabama, a daughter of Jessie and Pearl Elizabeth Haywood, coming to Youngstown in 1954.  She attended East High School then moved to the northside of the city and graduated from The Rayen School in 1963.

            Pearlie was a member of St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years and held may positions including secretary of Sunday School, the usher board, sang in the choir and president of the Nurses Guild.  She was a member of three gospel groups, namely, Everready, the Gospel Rets and the Ronzeville Singers.  In her leisure time, she enjoyed bowling, and growing plants, crossword puzzles and gospel music.

            She had been employed with Delphi Packard Electric for 32 years, retiring in 2002.  She was a member of the Brothers of the Hammer Motorcycle Club, the Buckeye Elks Naomi Chapter, The Order of Easter Star which she was Worthy Past Matron of the Sphinx, Past Matron of the Lady Knights, Silver Star of the Seven Seals, Ruth Court #23, and received her roses.

            She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Anthony (Sandy) Haywood of Chicago, IL, Sterling L. (Chris) Haywood Sr. of Columbus; a daughter, Danica R. Williams of Columbus; six grandchildren, Sterling (Ryiesha) Haywood Jr., Callaya Haywood, Christen L. (Monica) Haywood Sr., Jaycie Haywood, Jordan Haywood and Alexandria Cooper; eleven great grandchildren, Sanai, Solomon, Karis, Shari, Chloe, Kennedy, Taylynn, Sevyn, Christen Jr., Teagun, and Saint; seven godchildren, Terry (Michelle) Taylor, Brian (Valencia) Marrow, Carl (Kay) Belt, Tracy (Lavon) Lamb, Keisha Robinson and Denise Myers; two sisters, Berniece Finley Floyd and LaSharon  Akilah Muwwakkil; special cousins, Moses “Brother” Lee (Mildred) and Theodore “Butch” McNeil, and Lula Mae Williams; trusted friends, Dorothy Montenegro, Evelyn Mitchell and Margaret Ali; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

            Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by Inez Loften, a brother, Alton Finley; three sisters, Fannie Howard, Barbara Kellum and Caroline Henry; a daughter-in-law, Karen G. Haywood; three cousins, Josephine and Eugene Haywood and Dorothy Liggins.

            Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2025 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the St. Peter’s Baptist Church, 620 North Avenue, Youngstown, OH.  A celebration of her life will follow at 1:00 p.m.  Rev. J. E. Holmes officiant.
