Mozelle Snead

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Mozelle Snead, 92, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at Ohio Living Park Vista.

Mrs. Snead was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Granville County, N.C., a daughter of Hugh Ezra Wilkerson and Laura Candis Thorpe.

She attended Hillside High School in Durham, N.C., East High School in Youngstown and Shenley High School in Pittsburgh. She had been employed as a nurses aide for 10 years with Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center and in the maintenance department of Cafaro Corporation for 20 years, retiring after many years of service.

She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, its usher ministry and Communion Steward, and the United Methodist Women’s Organization.

She leaves to cherish her legacy and memories, two daughters, Darlene A. Phillips Madison of Youngstown and Wanda L. Phillips Harden of Fredericksburg, Va.; a brother, Ray H. Wilkerson of Rialto, Calif.; and two sisters, Jacqueline L. Burley and Sybil A. West, both of Youngstown; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George, whom she married in 1970 and who passed away in October 1990; and her son, Stephen L. Snead.

Visitation will be Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family wishes to send a “Special Thank You” to the 2nd floor Nursing Staff and aides of Ohio Living Park Vista, and Hospice who took great care of her during her illness.
