Mother Willie Jarrett Hendrix Obituary

Mother Willie Doll Jarrett Hendrix was peacefully called home on Thursday, December 12, 2024. Her long and storied life, as illustrated by her career and her interest, was characterized by her service to her family, her church and her community.

Mother Doll was born June 29, 1944 in Tupelo, MS, to Jack Clark and Mrs. Mary “Frankie” Partlow Clark. She went to school in Verona (Mary C. Wells) and Shannon, MS. Though residing briefly in Palmetto, MS. Mother Doll eventually settled in her hometown Youngstown, Ohio and launched her prolific career of service. She worked at Northside Hospital as a CNA. Then worked for General Electric (GE) where she retired with 35 years of service. Her unique name is what got her the job.

Early in life, Mother Doll devoted herself to the Lord’s work as a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, then she converted to Christ Centered under leadership of Pastor Kenneth W. Paramore. She demonstrated the same sense of service to her church home as she did in her professional career.

Mother doll loved her family unconditionally. Her biggest thrill was when she went abroad, traveling to Italy. She always wanted to write a book about her life in Mississippi. She worked hard in the cotton fields, so that she could get her family out of Mississippi to create a better life for her children and take care of her momma and siblings. She done just that.

Mother Doll leaves behind a large loving family including Jimmie Hendrix, her dutiful husband of twelve years, her children Christopher, Sherri, Vielinda, and Robert (Jeannine); six stepchildren, Carla Cara (Solomon) Chanell (Kenny), Eisha (Tom) Chantae, Nakia (Wendy); seven grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Walton and Stella Clark and a host of other relatives and friends.

She will be greeted at heaven’s gate by her parents Jack and Frankie Clark; six brothers Celevand Clark, Will Clark, Lewis Clark, Eddie Lee Clark, Willie Lee Clark and an infant boy who dies at birth; three sisters, Dorothy Turner, Mary Ann Hentz, Elizabeth Williams and son-in-law Jimmie Baker

Actual funeral services and internment were held in Tupelo, MS on December 28, 2024.
