Mother Meriam Edwards Obituary

Mother Meriam Yvonne Edwards

Sunrise:  November 20, 1940     Sunset:  November 21, 2024

Mother Meriam Yvonne Edwards was born November 20, 1940 in Warren, Ohio to the late Advanced Presiding Elder William Taylor and Advanced Senior Mother Madeline Taylor. She was the fourth child of their union born a member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob.

She attended Roosevelt Elementary School and Hubbard High School. She worked and retired from Sharon General Hospital after 25 years of service. During her time at Sharon Regional, she served in various medical departments including Emergency, Pediatric and Pain Management.

Mother Edwards served faithfully in the church she loved, holding many positions and officer, including the President of the Sons & Daughters of God Organization.  She was admired for her great talent of being able to set-up, organize and execute some of the best rummage sales on the block.  In the church basement, she would have clothes and good lining the walls, tagged and professionally presented like they were in a boutique rather than a church basement.

Mother Edwards’ home was known for being one of the greatest gathering places in the world. All of the children loved to go home with Mother Edwards on Sundays, because she had the best food or she would treat them to the fast food that their parent’s would get them.

Mother Meriam often used her gift of singing in the church. She was a member of the District Choir and Kings 16 Choir and was able to play the tambourine as well as play the drums in the local Youngstown congregation.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Mr. Cohen Amaziah (Connie) Phillips of Sharpsville, PA; her daughter, Elderess Charmaine Yvonne Phillips of Hubbard, OH; two step-children, Mr. Michael and Ms. Marie Edwards; a sister, Advanced Senior Mother Mary Ann Poole; a brother, Advanced Presiding Elder William (Lurline) Taylor; five sisters, Senior Mother Eunice Edwards, Advanced Senior Mother Ruth Tayloy, Advanced Senior Mother Darlene Taylor, Sister Lillian Barnett, and Mrs. Essie Phillips, and a brother-in-law, Br. James Edwards; three grandchildren, Brandon Michael (Ocatia) Edwards, Shauna (Jamie) Anderson, and Hannah Phillips (Luke); five great-grandchildren, James, Kinsley, Kaitlin, Mijyza, Calayah, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Advanced Presiding Elder William and Advanced Senior Mother Madeline Taylor; her Husband, Brother Samuel Edwards; a daughter, Sister Samantha Elizabeth Edwards; two brothers, Elder Bani S. Taylor and Advanced Presiding Elder Zelek Taylor and a granddaughter, Michelle Yvonne Massengile.

Special acknowledgements goes to Dr. Nick Abbott, Dr. Brandon Mikoloich, and the 5 West Care Team at Sharon Regional Hospital in Sharon, PA.
