Mildred Elaine Reynolds

           Mrs. Mildred Elaine Reynolds, 85, of Youngstown, transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 7:26 p.m. at Compassus Hospice House in Poland, OH, after a long illness.

            Mrs. Reynolds was affectionately known as “Lanie, Millie and Sweet Pea” at the hospitals and nursing home.  She was born May 3, 1940 in Fort Valley, GA, a daughter of Otis A. and Mabel Ross Snipes, and was the oldest of eight children.  She was brought to Ohio by her parents and lived in Struthers for many years.  She attended and graduated from North High School in Youngstown.  She met the love of her life, George E. Reynolds, and they were married March 10, 1958.  From that union was born three children, Anthony Tyrone, Crystal Elaine and Lynetta Doreen Reynolds. 

            Mrs. Reynolds worked as a nurse’s aide at Little Forest Medical Center and Boardman Care Nursing Home in Boardman, OH.  She also worked as a dietitian with Gateways to Better Living in Austintown, OH for many years.  Her hobbies were cooking, traveling, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She was a beloved matriarch of the Snipes-Reynolds families sharing her love, wisdom and guidance with her family, close friends, and pouring wisdom into everyone she met.  She served as a church mother and as a treasurer for the church.  She was a strong woman of faith, loved and a willing servant for God all her life.  Mrs. Reynolds set a great example of how we should live our lives to honor God, serve others and to do good in the world.  She was a sound pillar of strength for those in need and in crisis.  She tirelessly gave of herself when anyone needed her.

            She leaves to cherish her memory, her first cousin, Roberta Berry; her children, Anthony and Crystal; three sisters, Loretta White of Youngstown, Dr. Mary Ann Echols (Robert) of Girard and Sonya Marie Snipes of Boardman; two brothers, Rudy Snipes (Dawna) of Boardman and Donald Snipes of Arizona; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and friends.

            Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynetta Reynolds; and two brothers, Larrimore Snipes and Freeman Snipes.

            Visitation will be Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Victory Church, 3899 McCartney Rd., Lowellville, OH 44436.  Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
