Matthew Smith

            Mr. Matthew Smith, 66, transitioned peacefully to eternal rest on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Willow Woods Nursing Home with his family by his side.

            Mr. Smith was born December 22, 1957 in Youngstown, a son of Julius and Bessie E. Smith Miller.  He was a 1975 graduate of The Rayen School and attended Youngstown State University.  Matthew enjoyed art, and sports having ran track in high school. 

            He leaves to cherish his beloved memory his wife, Ida Smith; his daughter, Tina Smith; two brothers, William (Janice) Miller and Donnie Smith all of Youngstown; three sisters, Willa Mae Brim and Betty (Samuel) Walton both of Detroit, MI, and Doriska Riley of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephew, other family and friends.

            Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Juliet Smith; his brothers, Julius and Robert Miller; sisters, Juliet Lucas and Equilla Miller; and nephews, Robert Edwards, Virdree L. Thompson and Zethran Jackson.

            A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Rd., Youngstown.
