Mrs. Mary Lee (Brooks) Jones, 81, of Niles, departed this life on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Mrs. Jones was born June 11, 1944 in York, Alabama, a daughter of L. T. and Jewel Artis Knox. She was a graduate of Youngstown City Schools. Mary had been employed with General Electric for 32 years, retiring in 2002. She was a former member of Union Baptist Church; and the Silver Sneakers Line Dance Group. Mary’s passion was shopping, but she also enjoyed traveling, socializing with close friends and family. She loved horses, Western movies, fine dining (especially) lobster and was a true Lebron James fan.
She leaves to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life and legacy, two children, Sheryl L. Clark of Niles and Lonnie J. Brooks of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Keith D. (Shanisha) Colvin, Daryll Clark, Darnell Clark, Whitney Savage, and Reginald Daniels; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; five siblings, Jeanette Sommers of Columbus, OH, Emma Vaughn of Harrisburg, PA, Loventra (Raymond) Rox of Euclid, OH, Anthony Knox of Atlanta, GA and Tangie Knox of Garfield, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry A. Jones, whom she married in 1993 and who passed away in 2003; a son, Lawrence Brooks Jr.; and siblings, Louis Knox, Welthine Cummings, Denise Hodge, and Timothy Knox.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Rd., Youngstown. A celebration of life will follow at 10:00 a.m.
