Mrs. Margaret Louise Rivers, 86, of Youngstown, peacefully transitioned to eternal life on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Rivers was born August 19, 1938 in Oakland, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Lester J. Ferrell and De’Elka Higgs, and was raised by her stepfather, Omar Burnett. Margaret had been employed as a food prep specialist at The Oven and was a beautician. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, where she served as Church Mother and was former president of the Pastor’s Aide. She was a member of the Grand Matron Supreme Queen Daughter of Solomon; a member of the Jet 5 Women’s Group, teacher’s aide, founder of the Southside Community Choir and was a foster parent. She enjoy bingo, social cards, catering, horseback riding; and was the family reunion organizer.
She leaves to forever cherish her memory, and to celebrate her beautiful life and legacy, her children, Rendore R. Rivers of California, Lovetta Rivers, Rev. Jacqueline Rivers-Richardson, Stefonia Gordon and Pamela Clark all of Youngstown, Margaret L Rivers-Dallas of Columbus and Michael Rivers of Cleveland; her brother, Robert (Margie) Burnett of New Castle, PA; grandchildren, Fatimah L. Rivers, Maurice Sims Jr., Michael R. Rivers, Erica Rivers, Shanequa (Edmond) Miller, Eric Gordon Jr., Tyrone Rivers, Victoria Harrison, Dwan Sr., Sierra, Romero, Lajuan, and Roneisha; great grandchildren, Terryiah, Delaynah, McKenzie, Eric III, Marlee, Lillie Gail, Alaina, Devonte, Seraphina, ArMone, Nevaeh, Farron, Zanoah, Kie, Legend, Sy’Era, Dwan, Daijah, Dailon, Demya, Dalion, Nylah, Dewey, Gionni, Drake, Kylee; several cousins whom she was raised with; goddaughters, Lynn Williams, Tamela Beachum Hernandez and Leatha Shine; godsons, Terry Hall Jr., Hipolito and Angel Vazquez; and a host of family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lovie Rivers Jr., whom she married February 2, 1957 and who passed away May 1, 2016; a brother, Robert Robinson; a sister, Jacqueline Gore; son-in-law, Eric Gordon Sr.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. A celebration of life service will follow at 12:00 noon.
