Mrs. Mae Helen Prisby, 96, of Youngstown, entered eternal rest on ; Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
Mrs. Prisby was born May 11, 1924 in High Point, North Carolina, a daughter of Chester and Tressie Funderburk Diggs, coming to this area in July 1964. She was a graduate of Monroe High School in Monroe, North Carolina, and upon coming to Youngstown earned her Bachelor Degree from Youngstown State University. She trained and worked as a registered cytotechnologist at Forum Health for 25 years, retiring in 1989. She continued to work park-time as a cytotechnologist until 1998. She was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology; and a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Her husband of 42 years, Raymond R. Prisby, Jr., whom she married April 11, 1965, passed away October 17, 2006.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two daughters, Patsy Prisby and JoAnn (Alan) Thompson; two sons, Raymond R. Prisby III and David Richey (Beverly) Richey all of Youngstown; one sisters, Katherine Hayes, two brothers, Chester Diggs, Jr. and Otis Diggs; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Gertrude Johnson and Dorothy Lighner; and three brothers, Charles, Everett, and Roosevelt Diggs.
A private funeral services will be held at a graveside ceremony in Highpoint North Carolina at Greenhill Cemetery hosted by Johnson and Son's Funeral Home
