Mrs. Lucille Winlock, 86, of Youngstown, transitioned from her earthly labor to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Mrs. Winlock was born November 14, 1939 in Dublin, Georgia, a daughter of Clarence and Estella Jackson Freeman. She was educated in the Dublin School system, and came to the Youngstown area as a child. She had been employed with LaFrance Dry Cleaners as a presser, retiring after over 15 years of service.
She was a member of Mt. Olive F. B. H. Church where she served as past president of the usher board. She was an excellent cook and made impeccable pound cakes that was often requested by others. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and helping others.
She leaves to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life and legacy, her children, Debra A. Spencer and Cynthia M. Winlock both of Youngstown, William (Tereca ) Winlock III of Warren, and Vanessa Jackson of Corpus Cristi, TX; two sisters, Essie Sapp Benson and Minister Rosa Barron both of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Keith, Joi, Antwan, Marilyn, Shauna, Cynquitha, Denise, Tangy, and Precious; 30 great grandchildren; 44 great great grandchildren; a host of other family and dear friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tyron Kemp; five sisters, Burna D. Jones, Bernice Hester, Pat Freeman, Jeanette Dillard, Estella Rogers; a great granddaughter Desiree D. Jackson; a great great grandson, Bernard Owens; her former husband, William E. Winlock; sister-in-law, Juanita Davis; and best friends, Betty Carter, Mary Revere, and Mari Frances Burney.
Visitation will be Friday, May 22, 2026 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church 1507 Hillman Street, Youngstown. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
