Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Metropolitan Baptist Church, 485 Redondo Rd., for Ms. Lonzetta Poindexter, 76, of Youngstown, who departed this life, Thursday, April 19, 2018 at her home.
Ms. Poindexter, affectionately known as “Lonnie”, was born February 2, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama, a daughter of Otis and Lydia McKenzy Kelley. She was a 1960 graduate of The Rayen School, and had been employed as an assembler at General Motors Lordstown, retiring after 31 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 1112. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, bowling, golf, and line dancing. Lonnie was a member of the Youngstown Travelers Bowling League and B & B Mixed Bowling League, Ebony Ladies Golf League, Packard Ladies Golf League. She was also a member of the Birthday Club and The Celebrity Line Dancers.
She leaves to cherish her legacy and memories three children, Fay Poindexter of Columbus, Allen (Deborah) and Leslie (Heather) Poindexter both of Youngstown; 10 grandchildren, Shawntell, Dujuan, Jessica, Allen Jr., Cassandra, Tierra, Jassmine, Sade, Sierra, and Mariah; four great grandchildren; several cousins including a special cousin, Alphonso Robinson; special sister-in-law, Shirley Poindexter; a special friend, Charles Rhodes; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
