Lillian Wheeler

            Mrs. Lillian Wheeler, 84, of Canal Winchester, transitioned from this earthly labor to eternal peace on Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Ohio State University Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

            Mrs. Wheeler was born March 9, 1940 in Evergreen, Alabama, a daughter of Edd and Flora Bell Franklin Oliver.  She was a graduate and majorette of Conecuh County High School in Evergreen, AL.  Lillian was a member of the Greater Friendship Baptist Church, Youngstown, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Secretary, and its Food Pantry.  She was very active with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Roosevelt Elementary, Lincoln and Adams Jr. High Schools, and the East High School Boosters.  She was also a board member of “Give the Children a Chance” Organization.  Lillian enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kentucky Derby.  She was a master cook and loved to travel; watch the Game Show Network, the Young & the Restless as well as the Bold and the Beautiful.

            She leaves to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life and legacy, her children, Kenneth Wheeler of Jacksonville, FL, Glenis Wheeler, Vicki L. Cox, and Wilma Faye Wheeler all of Canal Winchester, Frederick (Shilonia) Wheeler of Columbus and her bonus son, Cedric Jackson; a sister, Jackie Holder of Evergreen, AL; five grandchildren, Brittany, Nia, Terrell “T.J.”, Soleii and Bricen; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

            Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred whom she married in 1966 and who passed away in July 2014; sister, Luberta Bradley; and five brothers, Edward, Eugene, Robert, Rocellous and Elbert Oliver.

            Visitation will be Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., Youngstown. A celebration of her life will follow at 10:00 a.m.
