Mr. Lee Henry Jones, 83, of Youngstown entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Jones, affectionately called “Honey”, was born June 2, 1935 in Tallahassee, Florida, a son of Willie and Henrietta Brown Jones. He was a graduate of the Tallahassee School System where he played football and was nicknamed “Trap Jones”; and attended Florida A & M University. He had been employed as a truck driver for Airco-Findley Welding for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. He then began working with the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home as general manager of maintenance, retiring after over 10 years. He was a U. S. Army veteran.
Lee was a member of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church and its Male Chorus. He was also a member of Donald Lockett VFW Post 6488. He loved cooking (especially grilling), fishing, golf, traveling, and cars. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers fan; loved to dress and was a collector of all types of hats.
He leaves to mourn his passing, but to rejoice in his peaceful transition, his devoted wife, the former Ann Cannon, whom he married June 9, 1957; two sons, Anthony Jones and Michael (Reecie) Jones both of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Alonzo Jones of Philadelphia, PA; sisters, Catherine (Charles) Thompson of Orlando, FL, Vera Mae Jones and Shirley Dupuch both of Tallahassee, FL, and Kathy Pride of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Mikela, Lauren, Ashley, and Jayda; three great grandchildren, Mason, Michael and Maliyah; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Jones; and sister, Velsia Jones.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow immediately at 12:00 noon.
