Mr. Lance Earl McDowell Sr., 64, of Youngstown, transitioned from this earthly labor on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Mr. McDowell was born March 1, 1960 in Youngstown, a son of William L. and Neoma L. Milner McDowell. He was a 1978 graduate of The Rayen School and graduated from the Genesis Barber College in 2015 in Nashville, TN. Lance was a member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church. He was a person who loved to make people smile, in other words he was a jokester. He enjoyed working with his hands as a handyman, was skilled with auto mechanics, and was an avid football fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lance was a U. S. Navy veteran.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memory, his mother of Youngstown; his children, Michelle (Karras) Marshall of Nashville, TN, Lance E. McDowell Jr. of Alabama, Keyona Sykes of Columbus, Lamar (Cori) Sykes of Indiana, Dana (Jason) Hewlett, Danielle McDowell, Marisha McDowell and Raonda Sykes all of Youngstown, and Lamont McDowell of Florida; his siblings, William L. McDowell Jr. of Youngstown, Kelly L. (Daniel) McDowell-Terrell, Eric D. McDowell both of Columbus and Ronson (Latonya) McDowell of Youngstown; half siblings, Lillian Anderson and Shene McDowell both of Columbus, Shirrah Poole of North Carolina and Shannon (Heather) Alston of Painesville; a special friend, Michele McKinley; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; son, Isiah Helms; and his grandparents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, 1812 Oak Hill Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44507. A celebration of his life will follow at 12:00 p.m.
