Laquetta Simmons Obituary
Laquetta (Tuffy) Simmons, 58, was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on April 7, 1966, to Curtis Robert and Vera Lynn Foster. Tuffy moved to Baltimore, Maryland, as a child and attended Baltimore City Schools. Tuffy was a straight A/B student and quickly joined the track team and ran many laps for Walbrook High School when she realized what an awesome runner she was.
She also loved to dance and would break out doing the "Robot" whenever Michael Jackson's “She’s a Dancing Machine” was playing.
Tuffy was a devoted mother to three children: Nakiea, Jovon, and Alona. Her children became her world, and she loved being a mother. She was more than a mother -- she was a confidant, a friend, and a conqueror. She was a strong woman who believed in speaking her mind and telling her truth, good or bad.
Before leaving this earth, Tuffy decided to give her life to God because through her trials and tribulations, God carried her through it all and she just wanted to live her life according to God's plan and not her own.
Tuffy is preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents Curtis and Lynn Foster, her brother Norman Venable, her daughter Nakiea Foster Cole, and her granddaughter TaNay Sidberry.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children Jovon (Jentell) Simmons of Youngstown, Ohio, and Alona (Karell) Carter of Phoenix, Arizona. Twelve grandchildren, Tasia, Charles, Jalaya, Lataya, Kalil, Sa’Niya, Ja’Ziah, Jovon Jr., Juelz, Na’Zaya, Zi’Aire, and NaZir; four great grandchildren; one sister Sonia Foster of Columbus, Ohio; two nieces, Junila and Tamika; and one nephew, Kevin. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
