Keonte Sims Obituary

Keonte Antwon Sims, 26, was called home to be with the Lord on April 5, 2026. Born on September 4, 1999, in Springfield, Missouri.

Keonte was the beloved son of Keith Sims and Teresa Waller. Keonte was a proud graduate of Perry High School, class of 2017. He excelled academically, with math being his favorite subject. He aspired to further his education as an anesthesiologist. He had a deep love for basketball and was exceptionally talented on the court. Whenever he had a basketball in his hands, it brought him pure joy. You could always count on seeing a smile across his face when he took the court. When he wasn't playing basketball, he enjoyed spending his time playing video games, eating his favorite candy, and writing raps. He loved music and often found himself freestyling over beats, expressing his creativity and passion in his own unique way,

Keonte had a vibrant and welcoming personality, who never met a stranger because he treated everyone as a friend. His ability to connect with others and bring people together gave him a cherished presence in the lives of many people. He was truly a friend to all who knew him. Keonte loved his nieces and nephews dearly, and he treasured the time spent with them. He built close bonds with Kevin Sims Jr. and Emmanie Sims, who held a special place in his heart. Keonte faced personal battles that he worked hard to try to overcome.

In His infinite wisdom and mercy, the Lord called Keonte home, granting him peace so that he would no longer suffer in the flesh. Cherish his memory are his parents: Keith (Aliecia) Sims, Teresa (Tyrone) Waller, along with his siblings: Keith Sims Jr., Kevin (Cherelle) Sims Sr., Khiejana Sims, Keishaun Sims, Desmond Carpenter Jr., Alexa Carpenter, Demond Carpenter, Tyrone Waller Jr., Ruth Sherman, and Eugene Waller. He also has a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will deeply miss him.

Though hearts are heavy we find comfort in God’s Word. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147: 3 Keonte's memory will live on in the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
