Mrs. Joyce Elizabeth Williams, 88, of Youngstown, transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at home with her family at her side.
Mrs. Williams was born May 28, 1937, a daughter of William and Bernice Hodges Davis. She was a 1955 graduate of East High School. Joyce had been employed with General Motors Lordstown for 30 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church and its usher ministry. Joyce enjoyed social games, cooking and shopping, but her passion was being with her loving family.
She leaves to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life and legacy, three children, June, Darlene and Jesse B. Williams all of Youngstown; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; four siblings, Michael Davis of Pennsylvania, Marilyn Denise (Michael) Lundy of Georgia; Sylvia (James) McAlister of Ohio and Steven DeLoach of Mississippi; her sister-in-law, Sejour Deloach of Germany; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, church family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Willie James Williams Jr.; a grandson, Justin Tyrone Fields; her siblings, John DeLoach and June Valentine; her longtime companion, George Jones Jr.; and the father of her children, Willie James Williams Sr.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Ave, Youngstown. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12:00 noon.
