Josephine A. Kennedy was born April 3, 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio. She was a graduate of East High School. Josephine was the daughter of Dorothy (Hudson) Murphy of Youngstown, Ohio. She departed this life March 7th, 2026, in her home (3009 Canfield Rd. Youngstown, Ohio).
Josephine was a devoted wife to her husband James B. Kennedy Sr, who married June 20th, 1964. She loved to cook, shop, and enjoyed raising her 3 sons. Her favorite place to shop was QVC. She also enjoyed decorating her home and kept it immaculate. Josephine was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and served on the Missionary Board.
After raising her 3 boys she was employed by OMNI Manor in 1999, where she worked in housekeeping and laundry till her retirement in 2023. Her Co-Workers there loved her.
She leaves to embrace her memories, son James B. Kennedy Jr, and Brothers Alfred Davis (Dorothy) all of Youngstown: Brother Arty Murphy and sister Vicky Lawrence (both of Pittsburgh); a granddaughter Chmicka Kennedy of New York and grandson Aaron Kennedy of Youngstown who she helped raise as a child. Sister-In-Law Barbara Davis who was just like a sister. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband James B. Kennedy Sr., daughter LaDonna Jean Kennedy, two sons Curtis Kennedy and George Kennedy both of Youngstown, Mother Dorothy Murphy, Brothers Herbert Davis, Mitchell Murphy, Marty Murphy, sisters LaDonna Jean Murphy and Victoria Murphy.
Visitaation will be Friday, March 20, 2026 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
