John Raymond Faison Obituary

Mr. John Raymond David Faison, 67, of Youngstown, transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in the comfort of his home.

Mr. Faison, lovingly known as “Buggie”, was born February 14, 1957 in Hubbard, a son of Robert and Gladys Lokey Faison. A distinguished graduate of Hubbard High School in 1975, John was not only recognized for his academic success but also for his athletic achievements. His commitment to service and education led him to receive his Journeyman License for Plumbers and Pipefitters in 1977. Soon after, he joined the family business, R. Faison Plumbing, and worked alongside his brothers Robert and Howard for many years. John was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 396, and the National Plumbers and Pipefitters. He dedicated 22 years of service to the Youngstown City School District retiring December 29, 2022.

According to John, he took the happiest walk of his life on October 5, 1985, the day he married the former Sandra Little.

He was a member of Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church and various community partnerships. He took pride in many hobbies such as being a former girls basketball coach at Chaney High School, where he was able to coach his daughter and fostered lifelong relationships with his players, who he viewed as his own children. He was a loyal member of the Youngstown Travelers Bowlers League, The National Bowling Association, Youngstown Golfing League ( YOGO), and of course an avid Cleveland Browns fan, as a season ticket holder with his wife and children for many years.

In his eternal rest, he leaves his love and wisdom, with his two children, Michael A. Dessaw, of Hermitage, PA, lovingly referred to as Big Chuck and Quiana S. Faison of Youngstown, affectionately known as Babygirl. His sister, Gloria Drake of Youngstown; a cousin, Keith Bell of Youngstown, who shared an unbreakable bond akin to brotherhood. He will also be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

Besides his parents, John was met at heaven’s gates by his wife Sandra and stepson, David Ellis; his siblings, Ida Mae Barron, Fred Faison, Robert Faison Jr., Howard Faison, Charles Faison, Thomasina Harper, Pauline Sibley and Max James Faison. He will also be reunited with his dearest friends, Lamont Stevens, Albert Abrams and William Chislom.
