Mr. John Edward Shade, 65, of Youngstown, departed this life on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Mr. Shade, affectionately known as “Hollywood”, was born August 19, 1955 in Youngstown, a son of John H. and Bernice Stuart Shade. He love music and was a DJ for many events. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. A dedicated DJ, John enjoyed concerts, traveling, grilling, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and loved being with his family.
He is survived by his estranged wife, the former Denise L. Ahart, whom he married August 18, 1979; eight children, Derrick Henderson, Quincy (Michelle) Henderson, John E. (Melissa) Shade, Sr., Jonathan Shade and Gerice Shade and Michael Irwin all of Youngstown, Richard Ahart of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Sheiree Henderson of Columbus; 23 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Anthony Shade of Youngstown; three sisters, Donna Turnage and Delores Chatman both of Akron and Rose Shade of Youngstown; a special friend, Judy Jackson; and a host of family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Chatman, John Henry Bratton, Wilbur Shade; one sister, Jessie Eskridge; and a grandson, John Edmond Shade, Jr.
Friends may call on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home. Funeral services for the family will follow at 3:00 p.m. Due to the pandemic, all guests are asked to wear masks and observe social distancing.
