Jerri Montgomery Obituary

Mrs. Jerri Butler-Montgomery, 51, of Campbell, transitioned to eternal rest on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with her loving family surrounding her.

Mrs. Montgomery, affectionately known as “J.B.”, was born September 9,1973 in Youngstown, a daughter of Tommy R. Sr. and Angeline McCline Butler. Jerri was a 1992 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, and received her AA degree in Social Work in 2013 from Youngstown State University. She had been employed as an assembler with Delphi Packard. She was very supportive of the Campbell City Council and their initiatives. Jerri enjoyed doing her Walmart deliveries, baseball, traveling, cooking (she was known for her BBQ sauce and mac & cheese). But most of all her passion was being with her grandchildren and family. Jerri was an unforgettable spirit whose light shined brightly in every room she entered. From a young age, she displayed a love and passion for inspiring those around her boundless love and giftings.

Jerri was deeply committed to her community. From planning and organizing community events; Trunk or Treat, turkey give-a-ways & her latest event, The Soup City Block Party to name a few. Jerri was known for her infectious smile, warm spirit and unwavering kindness. She touched the lives of everyone she met. Jerri’s energy and passion for life will never be forgotten. Though her time with us was short, her legacy of love, compassion, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate her life and legacy, her loving  husband, Dwyain C. Montgomery, whom she married September 20, 2016; three children, Cassandra Walker of Charlotte, NC, Terence (Tiara) Walker of Campbell, OH  and Kristopher Walker of Farrell, PA; three stepchildren, Brittany Montgomery of Cleveland, OH, Tiffany Montgomery and Dwyain J. (Brittani) Montgomery both of Columbus, OH; eight grandchildren; her siblings, Robey (Geneva) Butler of Tuscaloosa, AL, Hazel Young and Tommy (Theresa) Butler Jr. both of Campbell, OH, Leland (Valerie) Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, Darlene Jones of Youngstown, Carlos (Lisa) Johnson of Florida, Anita Patton and Karen Butler both of Columbus, and Raymond (Kim) Butler of Warren; a godson, Armani Hobbs of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Greeting Jerri at Heaven’s gate were her father, Tommy Butler Sr.; her mother, Angeline Tinsley; a brother, Wade Johnson Jr; a granddaughter A’Niyah Jerri-Denise Williams; and a nephew, Raymond K. Butler, Jr.
