Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Genesis the New Beginning Ministries for Mrs. Jean Springs, 86, of Youngstown, who transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, November 23, 2018.
Mrs. Springs was born February 13, 1932 in St. Clairsville, a daughter of Charles A. and Rebie R. Perkins Brown. She was a 1950 graduate of East High School and had worked with Assumption Nursing Home for 20 years, and as a driver for the Antonine Sisters Adult Day Care Center for many years. She was a member of Genesis the New Beginning Ministries under the pastorate of Rev. Maralana Martin and was a part of its culinary committee.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two daughters, Galenda Gordon of Columbus, and Deborah (Michael) Walker of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Rochelle, Tanisha, LaTonya and Michael; a great granddaughter, Tianna; a sister, Marie Gray of New York; a sister-in-law, Rose Brown of Alabama; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Gordon; granddaughter, Arlinda Gordon; and siblings, Charles Brown, Clyde Brown, Katie Heard, Augustine McElrath, Mary Louise Mahone and Dorothy Escalante.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
