James Watson Obituary

With profound love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of James Leroy Watson, who peacefully entered eternal rest on June 1, 2026, at the age of 89.  Just weeks shy of celebrating his 90th birthday, James departed this life leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, service, family, and community.

Born on July 20, 1936, to Joe Watson and Gertrude King, James lived a life rooted in perseverance, integrity, and compassion. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose wisdom and presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

James was a hardworking entrepreneur and businessman. As the owner of J.R. Services, he built a successful cleaning company that contracted with numerous businesses throughout the community, including churches, movie theaters, restaurants, and many other establishments.  His dedication to excellence and strong work ethic earned him the respect of clients and colleagues alike.  In addition to operating his business, James worked for many years as a professional truck driver and insurance agent. No matter the role, he approached every opportunity with determination, professionalism, and pride.

A faithful servant of God, James was a longtime member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where he faithfully served on the Usher Board and was actively involved in the church's transportation ministry.  His faith was not only something he professed but something he lived each day through service, kindness, and generosity toward others.

Community and family remained at the forefront of his life. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or share wisdom with those around him. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to family gatherings and community events alike.  When he wasn't working or serving others, James enjoyed thrifting, shopping, traveling throughout the community, and spending quality time with family and friends. He was also a devoted and passionate San Francisco 49ers fan, proudly supporting his team through every season.
