James Edward Walker

Mr. James Edward Walker, 76, of Youngstown, transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, December 14, 2023 at his home with his family at his side after a lengthy illness.

            Mr. Walker was born December 10, 1947 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a son of Charles S. and Ruthie M. Manassa Walker.  He was a 1965 graduate of East High School, attended Youngstown State University and graduated from Morris Brown University.   James was of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed grilling, cooking, landscaping, and loved his family especially the children.  He enjoyed sports and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

            He leaves to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life and legacy, five children, James, Anise, Johnathan, Brentt and Remington; his sibling, Yvonne Isaac Pernell, Deborah Walker-Waller, Larry (Anita) Walker, Gary Walker, and Michael (Deborah) Walker; four grandchildren, Jamir, Adria, Na’dir and Na’dira; and a great granddaughter, Emonie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

            Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles S. Walker, Jr.; and sister, Delphine Floyd.

            Visitation will be Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.  Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m.  Guest are asked to wear masks.
