Herbert Halcot Green, Jr.

           Mr. Herbert Halcot Green Jr., 73, of Youngstown, transitioned to eternal peace on Friday, July 5, 2024 at the home of his daughter, Stacey, with his family at his side.

            Mr. Green was born May 19, 1951 in Youngstown, a son of Herbert H. Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Robinson Green.  He was a 1969 graduate of South High School.  He also received his BA degree in Business and a BA degree in Theology from Youngstown State University, as well as a BA degree from Western Oklahoma State College.  Herbert had been employed as a regional manager with U. S. Steel Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in 1994.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma.  Herbert enjoyed reading, singing, listening to music, cooking and ministering to others. His most precious times, however, was being with his family.  He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

            He leaves to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life and legacy, three children, Stacey L. Green and Donquail Mims both of Austintown, and Tenika H. (Patrick) Hodge of San Antonio, TX; a grandson, Terrence M. Green of New York; his sister, Mary Green; his former wife and forever friend, Brenda Oree both of Austintown; and his extended families – the Butlers, Scotts, Jones and Sadlers.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lily Green, LaVerne Green, Myrtle McKeithan, and Inez Booker; his brother, Wayman Robinson; and an aunt who helped to raise him, Mary Peay.

            Visitation will be Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.   Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. Herbert’s final resting place will be at the Belmont Park Cemetery.
