Harry Clinkscale Jr., 87, of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 9, 2026.
Born on June 11, 1938, in Youngstown, Ohio, Harry was the son of Harry Sr. and Mae Bloom Kimbrough Clinkscale. He attended Youngstown City Schools and remained deeply rooted in his hometown throughout his life. On December 24, 1958, Harry married his beloved wife, Annie Lee Roland, following a loving two-year courtship. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage and raised five children. Harry was a member of Beulah Temple United Holy Church of America in Youngstown, where he served faithfully as a deacon and in many other capacities.
A dedicated and hard-working man, Harry spent 30 years at General Motors Lordstown before retiring in 2001. After retirement, he founded the Reach Out and Touch Ministry with Lewis Jackson, sharing music and scripture with residents in nursing homes throughout the Mahoning Valley. Harry’s love of singing brought joy to countless people, and he continued to share his passion for music with those around him, even during his final days. Harry was an encourager and the heart of the Clinkscale family, serving as a true leader and family historian. He held a deep love for his family and could spend hours recounting the rich history of the Clinkscale ancestry. Harry was the last male Clinkscale of his generation, and those who loved him will always remember him. With humility and gratitude, we honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Harry Clinkscale Jr.
Harry is survived by his loving children: Joseph Clinkscale Sr. of Youngstown; Tonya Clinkscale (Jim) Gravitt of Louisville, KY; Julie Clinkscale of Youngstown; and Glen Clinkscale of Burlington, N.C. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie L. Clinkscale; his parents, Harry Sr. and Mae Bloom Clinkscale; his son, Harry Clinkscale III; two sisters, Harriett Clinkscale Pennington MacFarley and Doris Mae Clinkscale Moore; four brothers, John Arthur Clinkscale Sr., Lawrence Clinkscale Sr., Lemuel Clinkscale Sr., and Dennis Clinkscale; and four grandchildren, Devante Clinkscale, Donovan Clinkscale, Joseph Clinkscale Jr., and Chandriann Clinkscale.
