Gerald Lamont Askew, Sr.

Mr. Gerald Lamont Askew, Sr., 63, departed this life on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

Gerald was born, October 1,1961, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Nathaniel W. Askew, Sr. and Loris Askew.  

Gerald loved boxing, nice cars and elegant wardrobes. He loved his children, family and friends. He had an infectious smile and loved anyone that he encountered.  He was very loving and giving of himself to all.  Gerald accepted the Lord the Jesus Christ and is now resting in peace.   

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving daughter, Latoya Gibbs, (Willie), of Youngstown, Ohio; a devoted son, Gerald L. Askew, Jr, of  Bronx, New York; a devoted brother, Nathaniel W. Askew, Jr. (Nilda), of Myrtle Beach, SC; a loving sister, Linda D. Askew, of North, SC; an uncle, Willie Williams, of Titusville, Florida; aunts, Patricia (Walter) Hughes of Columbus and Betty Askew, of Youngstown, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. 

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel W. Sr. and Loris Askew; and a daughter, Angel Askew, grandparents, Ivory and Mayetta Jimerson, and Sterling and Cleotha Askew.  

Visitation will be, Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Rd, Youngstown, OH. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 am.
