George L. "Porky" Jones, Jr.

Mr. George L. Jones Jr., 89, of Youngstown, departed this life on Saturday, November 8, 2025 with his family at his side.

            Mr. Jones, affectionately known as “Porky”, was born January 1, 1936 in Atlanta, GA, a son of George L. Sr. and Flora Sutton Jones.  He had worked with BFI (Browning Ferris Industries) for 20 years, retiring in 2004.  George enjoyed fishing and going to the casino, and especially being with his family.  He was a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church; and was an U. S. Airforce veteran.

            He leaves to forever cherish his memory, his two granddaughters, LaTeese (Jordan) Pegues of Youngstown and NateTay Jones Logan of Columbus; his sister, Christine Smith of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tracy Lynn Jones; two sisters, Juanita McHellon and Thelma Jones; and a brother Marshall Jones.

            Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist, 1210 Himrod Ave., Youngstown, OH. 44506.   A celebration of life will follow at 11:00 a.m.
