Gabriel Clinkscale Obituary

This is the Life Story of Gabe Clinkscale Sr.

…..I heard a voice say it is time to come home and I left all to be with the Lord.  I, Gabe Clinkscale was born on February 20, 1959 to the parents of Lemuel and Eddie Ree Clinkscale in Youngstown, Ohio.  I have lived my entire life in Youngstown, where I attended the Youngstown Public Schools.  While in high school I ran track and played football after 4 years of high school I graduated from South High School.

After High school I went on to work and started fulfilling my dreams.  I worked for Ponderosa Steak House as a manager.  I later went on to continue to fulfill my dreams by applying for a government position at the United States Postal Service.  My score was so high I was asked to  train workers for the test.  I accepted a position as a Postal carrier and later became a Supervisor at the Girard, Ohio Postal Station. I was employed with the United States Postal Service for over 26 years..

As I was pursuing and going about my life and helping to raise my daughter Kelly a beautiful woman caught my eye and on April 10, 1999 I entered into a lifelong partnership of marriage and married Kimberly Johnson and to this union 2 children were born, Gabe Jr. and Chante along with my other daughter Shannon.

I have always had a love for music, especially Jazz.  I loved to bowl and roller skate, yes at my age when time permitted.  I enjoyed working in my yard keeping my grass cut and helping out the community children with fixing their bikes.  I was the community repair guy and the children on my street loved coming to my house, but my special joy was spending quality time with my wife and children.

As I moved day by day in my life I knew something was missing and that something was God and I wanted to make everything in my life right.  I told my wife I wanted to be saved and get baptized so my wife and I were both baptized.  From that day on my life was never the same.  It was so fulfilling from that day on with God being the most part of my life.  I went under the covering of Bishop Emmitt Nevels Sr. at Nevels Temple Church of God In Christ for many years until I could not attend any more.

In 2014 I became unable to work and was totally disabled.  My wife was by my side every day and cared for me along with my children and other family members and friends.  After 10 years of being disabled and unable to care for myself I departed this life on June 26, 2024 with my wife by my side.

The treasured memories my family will continue to have of me are too many to mention but I know I have set a good example for them to be beautiful and successful adults, to love and care about each other and to remember to always take care of their mother and each other.

My family members who preceded me in death were my beloved parents and siblings, Lemuel and Eddie Ree Ross Clinkscale, my parents;  Lemuel Clinkscale, Darnell Clinkscale, and Fred Clinkscale, my brothers.

My memory will be honored and cherished, by my beautiful and loving wife, Kimberly Johnson Clinkscale; my brothers, Turil Clinkscale(LuLu) and Derrick Clinkscale; my sister, Karnina Clinkscale Titus(Ray); my uncle, Harry Clinkscale(Anne) deceased; my children; Kelly Reynolds(Steve), Shannon Cambridge(Kevin), Gabe Clinkscale, and Chante Clinkscale.  My grandchildren; Kiara Reynolds, Kennedy Reynolds, Kendall Reynolds, Destanie McCullough, Kyra Cambridge, Deana Jenkins, Pharoah Willingham, and Halo Clinkscale.  Nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of truly good friends.

Humbly submitted
