Florine Perkins

Florine “Snookie” Perkins, 95, of Hubbard, Ohio, passed away Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, at her home. She was born January 25, 1930, in Panther, West Virginia, to Lawyer and Willie Westbrook.

Florine graduated from Kimball High School in Kimball, West Virginia. After she and her husband Eugene moved their family to Youngstown, Ohio, she became a faithful member of the Alpha and Omega First Baptist Church. There, she was a member of the ICUA (Interdenominational Church Ushers Association) Deaconess Emeritus, Senior Usher Ministry, Feeding Ministry, Pastor’s Aide Ministries and Mission. She had also served as Sunday School treasurer. She was a member of the NAACP, McGuffey Centre and a member of her beloved social club, aptly named The Friendly Club, for which she served a term as president. Florine worked for more than ten years as a cafeteria worker in the Food Service Department of the Hubbard School System. 

She leaves to mourn her passing, but to rejoice in life and legacy, her daughter Jeannetta (George) Holliman of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Darnell (Carmen) of Worthington, Ohio; Gerald (Kathy), Randy, and Dewan Perkins, all of Youngstown; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, whom she married July 23, 1949, and who passed away October 2005; her siblings, Pondexter Westbrook, Elizabeth Featherson, Fenniez Harris, Virginia Starghill, Lenora Moss, Lawyer Westbrook Jr., and George Westbrook.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Alpha and Omega First Baptist Church, 3120 Winton Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44505.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 10:00 a.m.
