Elder Edward William Snyder

           Elder Edward William Snyder, 89, of Youngstown transitioned from his earthly labor to eternal peace on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was called to glory at his home accompanied by his loving family at his side.

            Elder Snyder was born December 9, 1935 in Margaret, Alabama, a son of Luther Sr. and Minnie B. Wyatt Snyder.  He attended school in Margaret, Alabama. He had been employed with L. T. V. Republic Steel and had been employed with General Motors Lordstown, retiring after over 30 years of service.

            On February 26, 1979, Elder Snyder was ordained as a minister through the Church of God in Christ; and was later ordained in the Pentecostal Full Gospel Deliverance Association in October 1966.  Elder Snyder then started his own ministry – New Jerusalem Deliverance Ministry in Youngstown.  

            Edward was a skilled carpenter, played the guitar, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was an avid reader.  He loved driving in the country, and cultivating his skills to master new hobbies.  

            He leaves to cherish his beloved memory, six children, LaQueena Snyder, Eric (Derisse) Snyder and Antwan (Kimberly) Snyder all of Youngstown, Edwin Snyder of Washington, DC, Karen Young of Atlanta, GA, Kimani (Nikki) Snyder of Canal Winchester; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three great great grandsons; a brother, Joseph Snyder of Atlanta, GA; and a multitude of family and friends.

            Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Omega D. Snyder, a daughter, Latisha Snyder; three sisters, Frances Nolan, Esther Agee and Betsy Harzeez; and three brothers, Benjamin, Luther Jr. and James Snyder.

            Visitation will be Friday, September 5, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Rd.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
