Mr. Donald R. Hudson Sr., 71, of Youngstown departed this life on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Mr. Hudson was born September 11, 1953 in Youngstown, a son of Nathan and Annie Mae Aikens Hudson. He was a 1973 graduate of East High School. Donald had been employed as a masonry with L. T. V. – Youngstown Sheet & Tube for over 25 years, retiring in 1983. He was previously the chief maintenance engineer at various hotels in Atlanta, GA. He was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, plumbing, and was a die-hard Cleveland Brown, Cavalier and Guardians fan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, and celebrate his life and legacy, his wife, the former Carol D. Floyd, whom he married March 9, 1974; two daughters, LaShana (Isaac) Ford of Youngstown and Loleather (Ronald) Allen of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, J’Qwan Talley, Jason Talley, D’Andra Talley, D’Ontra Hudson, Donquavious Hambrick, NyQuavia Hambrick; 6 great grandchildren; his siblings, Donna (Frankie) Brown, Barbara Buchana, Stella Ann Hudson, Rev. Charles Hudson, Rocky Hudson, Linda (Bootie) and Mary Glover all of Youngstown, Diane Poindexter of Conyers, GA, Thomas Tony Hudson of Akron; and his childhood friend, Roger “Packer Wacker” Pack; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald R. Hudson Jr.; a sister Frances Bliss; brothers, Eddie, Jesse, Nathan Jr., Joseph D “J. D.”, Richard Hill and Terry Hudson; a grandson, Crashawn Hudson.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Avenue, Youngstown. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
