Mrs. Delores Womack, 80, of Warren, transitioned from this earthly labor to her heavenly reward on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
Mrs. Womack was born February 25, 1944 in Tacoma, Washington, a daughter of Wesley R. and Maxine Love Barnard. She was a 1961 graduate of The Rayen School and received her BA degree in Social Work from YSU in 2016. Among her many honors and recognitions, just to name a few, while at YSU, Delores was named seven times to the Dean’s list with a 4.0 GPA, inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Sorority, joined the National Leadership and Honor Society, was on the President’s List twice and was recognized as YSU’s Honor Convocation.
Delores had worked as a clerk with the United States Postal Service for 22 years, retiring in 2002. After receiving her degree from YSU, she worked as a social worker in Trumbull County, retiring in. She was a member of Third Baptist Church in Youngstown and several other organizations. She enjoyed baking, crafts, gardening, bird watching, and being with her grandchildren and family.
She leaves to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life and legacy, her children, Arnold J. Womack, Jr. and Reginald C. Womack both of Cleveland, Deirdre D. Womack of Atlanta, GA, and Eva E Womack-Ibrahim (Robert Jackson) of Youngstown; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a brother Wesley R. Barnard, Jr. of Indiana; a cousin, Lorraine Love; a nephew, Lester (Lenika) Lee; and a host of great nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David B. Womack; and sister, Gloria Weaver.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Road, Youngstown. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
