Ms. Cynthia Jean Smith, 69, of Austintown, transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 21, 2026 at her home with her family at her side.
Ms. Smith, affectionately known as “Jeanie” was born December 5, 1956 in Youngstown, a daughter of Wilie M. and Christine Jones Smith. She attended South High School, and had been employed with General Motors Lordstown for over 15 years, retiring in 1997. Jeanie was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served in the mission, choir, and food pantry ministries. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, cooking, baking, social games, and watching the Young and Restless and Bold and Beautiful.
She leaves to forever cherish her beloved memory, her mother; her daughter, Kandice Smith of Phoenix, Arizona; her siblings, Patricia Ann Shorter of Phoenix, AZ, LaTrail Miller of Youngstown, Marshall Smith of Athens, GA, Devetia R. (Jesse) Spragling and Willie (Kelly) Smith both of Youngstown ; sister-in-love, Lynette Sutton of Youngstown; her godsons whom she helped to rear, Ja’Von Elijah Kimberly and Isaiah Devon Kimberly both of Youngstown; her best friend, Debbie Colvin; and a host of family, church family and friends.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her father; her brother, Jerry Sutton; neice, Tiffany Tensley; uncle, Marshall Jones; and her grandparents.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 30, 2026i from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Avenue, Youngstown, OH. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12:00 noon.
