Clyde Wilson Obituary

Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church for Deacon Clyde Wilson, 82, of Warren,  who entered eternal rest on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

            Deacon Wilson was born March 15, 1936 in Wetumpka, Alabama, a son of Andrew and Clara C. Hardy Wilson.  He was a 1954 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.  He had been employed with Republic Steel, the Warren Sanitation Department, and retired from Delphi Packard Electric in 2007 after 38 years of service.  He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, its Deacon Board, a former trustee, a member of the church executive board, and was pastoral adjutant to the late Bishop Norman L. Wagner and Suff. Bishop C. Shawn Tyson.  He also served as captain of Mt. Calvary’s Bible Quiz Team.  Deacon Wilson was the first black elected union committeeman and also served on the executive board of AFL-CIO Local 717 of Packard Electric.  He was a civic activist in Warren, and was a member of the N.A.A.C.P.

            He leaves to mourn his transition from earth to glory, his devoted wife, the former Belinda Floyd, whom he married August 10, 2002; three daughters, Terry Wilson and Ingrid Lincoln both of Youngstown, and Andria (Marshall) Williams of Columbus; four sons, Calvin (Taine) Davis of California, Clyde J. (Kelly C.) Jackson of Texas, Christopher Wilson and Jeffrey Wilson both of Youngstown; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.

            Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Wilson, Jr.; his sister, Ruby Bennett-Black; and two grandsons, Quentin and Jamal Wilson.

            Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
